Skills and Techniques relevant to the sport

Block-ready in position, hands high, watch to see where the ball is set up, jump and knock the ball over the net, hands close together, hands over the ball and flick it. What was your involvement in the sport and how did you use these skills and techniques? My involvement in the sport was just taking part in the exercise and participates with the groups we were put to. In the first exercise in groups of 4, one person stands at the net holding the ball as highest he can the other person from a group runs up and knock it over the net. The second exercise is one person standing on the other side of the net and you and your partner got the ball, he set you up and you smash it over and the person on the other side must try to block it.

During this session my STRENGTHS were: In this session my strength were blocking the smash using double block. I found that easy and the technique was really simple and effective. During this session my WEAKNESSES were: My weaknesses in this session were making block just on my own which I found very hard to make the technique right and knock the ball back over the net. To understand the main areas of umpiring.

Skills and Techniques relevant to the sport (P1) Umpiring-as a umpire you must have a knowledge of the sport and you must know the arm gestures to represent the game. Also you must watch the game situation very carefully to see all the fouls made by the teams. Watch the net and the line. What was your involvement in the sport and how did you use these skills and techniques?

My involvement in this sport was to be first the second umpire who is watching the net and the lines and than I had to swap and be the first umpire and use my knowledge of the arm gestures you have to represent the game. I used the technique in the umpiring the match which has been played. During this session my STRENGTHS were: My strengths during this session were when I was the second umpire which I have watched out for the net and lines which I found easy to be demonstrated.

During this session my WEAKNESSES were: My weaknesses in this session were that I did not know all the arm gestures to be demonstrated in the game situation and the technique of using them. To understand the main areas of rotating positions on the court during the game. Skills and Techniques relevant to the sport (P1) Rotating positions- Remember to rotate after every point your team make from the other team serve, if your team make point from their own serve they remain position, keep moving around the court and always move on by one place and remain there until you make point from your opposition.

What was your involvement in the sport and how did you use these skills and techniques? My involvement in the sport was just taking part in the exercise and participates with the teams we were put to. We have been split into two teams of 6 players, each player pick a position and remain there until you win a point from your opposite team than you can rotate position clockwise. During this session my STRENGTHS were: My strengths during this session were the spot on the net where I could smash the ball and block the ball over the net. Also I felt that I was good at the 6th position on the court.

During this session my WEAKNESSES were: My weaknesses were on the serve, where I could not make the serve either underarm or overarm. I also wasn’t very good at the 5th position on the court which I didn’t get hold of the ball too much.  Objectives of session To understand the key areas of volleyball in the proper game situation. Skills and Techniques relevant to the sport (P1) What was your involvement in the sport and how did you use these skills and techniques?

My involvement in this session was to be the 2nd referee and than swap and be the 1st one. Than I just took part in the game that have been set up for us. As 2 teams of 6 players on each side and playing a proper volleyball game with rotating the position, 2 umpires on the sides, using all the skills we have learnt over the last 6 lessons. At each of these positions we had to use the skills as follow, volley, dig, smash, serve and block.

During this session my STRENGTHS were: In this session my strength were be as the setting person on the net or be at the smashing position on the court, where I also get to block the smash of the other team which I think was very successful from my side. During this session my WEAKNESSES were: My weaknesses in this session were that I could not make the serve in either ways as over arm and underarm serve. I also felt poor at the 5th position on the court as I could not get hold of the ball properly and my involvement was not as good as on the other parts of the court. Explain in the opposite column how you used these skills within the sport and explain how and why you used them to your advantage. Where possible give examples of how you achieve success in the sport.
