Medical Assistant Role

Given the scenario that a medical assistant was charged with taking medication intended for patients. There are actually a handful of factors that could have influenced the role or action of this medical assistant. These factors actually depend on the type of medicine that the medical assistant has taken. The first possible factor is drug addiction. This is especially true if the medication taken by the medical assistant is a prescription drug. In this case, the medical assistant may have been tempted to take the drug because he is addicted to it but he does not have a prescription to buy it from stores.

Also, he may have been tempted to take it because he is already yearning for the drug at that time. If the drug taken by the medical assistant is a pain reliever, then it is highly possible that the medical assistant took it because he was experiencing body pain like headaches, etc. at that time. Indeed, it will be hard for medical assistants to focus on their work if they are feeling aches in their body so he decides to take a drug to alleviate it.

If the drug taken by the medical assistant is something that helps in inducing sleep, then it is highly probable that the medical assistant took it because he is having some trouble sleeping. But he does not have a choice but to force himself to sleep so he can have the right focus at work the next day. The medical assistant decides to take the medicine to help himself have a good night’s sleep. He may not have a prescription to buy sleeping pills so he just decided to take one intended for a patient.

If the medicine taken was for hypertension, then it is highly probable that the medical assistant has experienced a symptom for hypertension and he has to respond to it as soon as possible. This is one possible reason why he took the medicine intended for the patient. Bibliography Doctor’s office quality project. (2008). CMS.
