Stages of Pregnancy

Pregnancy is considered to be one of the peaks of motherhood. It is one great process that can be considered a mystery because of the stages of development of the fetus inside the mother’s womb. The stages of pregnancy starts from the time that she conceives until she gives birth to her most precious baby. This essay will discuss the process of pregnancy. Pregnancy is divided into three trimesters. Each period covers a particular development on the body parts of the fetus inside the mother’s womb. By the time of conception a pregnant woman is already on her first stage of pregnancy.

This is where the usual signs of pregnancy occur like nausea, exhaustion and tenderness of breasts. It is also during this period that the baby begins to show heartbeat and tiny limb movements. On the second month of pregnancy or after 7 weeks, formation of the baby’s face occurs and it is also the time when vital organs are formed. The second trimester is a continuation of the first stage wherein the baby continues to grow inside the womb and the heartbeat becomes stronger. At the end of week 16, the baby has also developed fine body hair.

As the third trimester approaches, mothers are already preparing themselves for the delivery. Her stomach grows bigger until she reaches week 36 and formations of the baby’s eyes and fingernails are in place. Week 40 or the last week of pregnancy makes the womb grow as big as a watermelon. It is in this stage that the testicles drop down when the expected baby is male in gender. After 9 months of conception the pregnant woman is now ready to give birth. Pregnancy process is such a long process. But all the pains and sacrifices are worth it right after the baby is born.
