The research study was done to find out the current problems facing the operations in Healthcare organizations while using their current manual system in keeping patients details during registration and also from the doctors while keeping their daily records about their patients. The study formed a basis of how to design and use an Enterprise Architecture system which will help to control the operations of the health organization. The use of stratified sampling was used which made possible to get responses from 57 employees out of the 3 health care organization where the study was done.
According to this research in this organizations majority of the employees’ responded by encouraging the introduction of EA in areas where it is not applied. They knew the system would improve the efficiency in the operations of the health organizations as well as other business firms. The findings show that 67% of the employees had a divergent view that the EA system will improve the organizations’ operations (Nas, 1996). The finding are represented as shown in the tables below Majority of the total respondents were nurses, managers and doctors (64%) while the rest were support team (36%).
This is because nurses, doctors and managers are more concerned with the operation of the hospital and mostly would like to look for a better way to improve their services to their customers. The findings in the table above show that most of the respondents (60. 9%) were senior employees in the organizations. The pharmacists, nurses and doctors had a bigger role to play because mostly they are the ones who deal with patients during registration, admission and treatment of the patients.
This analysis shows that data was collected from a cross-section of employees at the health organizations and this gives a clear picture on the need for implementing and deploying EA models in most of the organizations in order to deliver adequate services to their customers. These findings show that there was a need for EA system which was needed by the health organizations to coupe up with their problems. The responses from the respondents’ shows the system will solve their problems and activities like record keeping and searching for records will be easy and fast.
Those employees whose responses were NO or didn’t respond feared that the implementation of EA model will make them lose their jobs. Interoperability will enable different modules to be integrated together and this will avoid redundancy. Data gathering techniques To collect the relevant information and to fully understand the operations of the health care organizations and the user requirement the following techniques were used to collect information that will be used to analyze how EA models can be useful and how it can be applied in these organizations.
The methods were very fruitful and I managed to get data from different categories of people in this field and how improvement could be done so that a powerful EA system could have been employed (Mukherji, 2002). Interview This involved one on one conversation with the employees of various health care organizations to establish how the operations are carried out. This method was much reliable, as it provided first hand information with little inconvenience since it was conducted at the health organizations’ site. This method gives adequate opportunity for interviewees to put forward opinions and suggestions.
It also makes the interviewer to feel as part of the system. Interviewing lastly help the analyst clear the panic and resistance eliminate fears (Spewak, 1992). Document Sampling This will aid going through the previous enterprise operations and it will be quite subjective in that it provide a clear glance on all the records that have been maintained manually and with respect it will provide a roadmap on the kind of methodology approach that will be used in the system development approach that is how to map the operations with the actual system that is to be developed.
Observation This helped in observing the enterprise operation and it was quite subjective in that it provided a clear glance of how the hospitals and health care centers are operated manually or using legacy systems and with respect it provided a clear roadmap of the methodological approach that was used in the EA system development approach; that is how to map the operation with the actual system that is to be developed.
These techniques of collecting information enable one to measure the dependability of statement made during interview and questionnaires. Observation also protect confidential of information from the source. Lastly observation will enable recommendations will receive better acceptance since they are based on personal observation and helps the analyst to have the need to assist in changes that have been recommended in the enterprises for efficient and accuracy operations (Nas, 1996).
