Nursing theory is very expensive in nature, as nursing itself a discipline is more practical than theoretical. Nursing spar from social to research and other perspective. The social perspective is the care and the relationship that expected and developed towards the sick or patients. This implies that the first notion or impression created immediately a nurse encounters a patients develops natural confidence in the patient and infact this is why nursing can be defined as the care given to patient.
Therefore the scope of nursing theory not only formulates what nurses may know but also then what they want to know. This statement makes nursing theory to be so expensive. As nursing theory connects to other theory of interpersonal relations i. e. the manner of interaction between the nurse and the patient and a theory of medicine i. e. diseases, it illustrates the expensiveness and extent of this theory. Why should a nurse be social or be contextually based in social circle?
One, sickness is social condition and the relationship a nurse and a patient should be supportive for recuperation to take place. This is why it is ethical to show positive signs even if the patient may or not survive, the friendly and social atmosphere encourages the patient may live two or more days and two, organism i. e. the patient’s psychological reaction to sickness. A nurse may determine the negative or positive reaction of a patient towards the illness he/she suffers from.
For instance, a nurse rebukes a patient politely saying ‘your sickness is simple and immediately you are here it starts looking for ways to escape from you. ’ The psychological impression of the patient towards the illness is positive and this is cure number one. Another nurse for instance, says to the patient ‘your illness is complicated but we will try our best level’ this statement creates a very negative impression in a patient and may automatically accelerate the deterioration of the patient’s health. This is just a mall practical scope of the nursing theory.
