John C. Lincoln health network includes two hospitals located in Phoenix, Arizona, as well as community programs, doctor’s offices and charity foundation. This network has twenty primary care sites throughout the city, and it is also implemented different accredited medical homes, nursing home primary care and Medicare ACO’s (accountable care organizations. John C. Lincoln Deer Valley hospital is one of them, located on the northwest side of the valley. It is a non-profit community hospital, with two hundred and four beds and private rooms for everyone’s comfort.
This hospital has more than one thousand and three hundred employees that are dedicated professionals that work together to provide excellent inpatient and outpatient care. John C. Lincoln as a community network serves all backgrounds and variety of population and is committed to helping everyone in the valley. Hospital has a children’s emergency center, called Mendy’s place, open twenty four hours seven days per week, staffed with pediatric physicians and specialists.
Mendy’s place center treats different variety of illnesses and injuries and it is equipped with child-size medical equipment and bright color furniture (John C.Lincoln Network, 2013). John C. Lincoln Deer Valley hospital provides care to everyone, but the average age in this area is thirty years old.
About twenty eight percent of the population is kids and teenagers and about twenty two are adults older than fifty five (John C. Lincoln Deer Valley, 2012). Even though emergency department at this hospital was built just back in 2004 with all the private rooms in the facility, they still decided to renovate it and just recently. The reason why this hospital had to renew their Emergency Room floor was because of not enough space in the facility.
Because of this problem patients had to wait a bit longer than is prudent. Also, smaller rooms that cannot hold equipment may have caused patients to suffer longer than necessary, and that is why this renovation was much needed. Once we walk into the new ER department of John C. Lincoln, we are able to see spacious, airy and light waiting area. This lobby, or waiting area is no longer the point where patient wait to be registered, unless the Emergency Room is really crowded. Patient are taken into the back, private rooms and registered at the bedside.
Each patient gets their own privacy, no longer divided by curtain, but individual rooms. This new Emergency Room can now handle about sixty thousand patients per year, double the capacity and the size of the old room (John C. Lincoln Deer Valley, 2012). The way the rooms are set up now it is much easier for nurses to assist them. They are clustered around their stations which are equipped with overhead monitors that show every admitted patient and all the test information that are being done.
This hospital’s staff is currently working on, what is called treat and release time, which is a measurement from the time patient is being registered to the time of his or her release. Patients that are in critical conditions are admitted to rooms with big glass windows so they can be watched closely.
CT and MRI scanning equipment is situated right there by emergency room so staff and patients have a fast access to it. It is important to mention that Deer Valley hospital also has a sixteen slice Toshiba Aquilon computed tomography (CT) scanner that is located near the emergency department for a quick access.
This is a crucial piece of medical equipment necessary to diagnose life threating injuries in the most severe cases. The scanner is part of the PACS (EMR) system that allows everyone at the Deer Valley hospital to share and transfer images electronically.
This Emergency room also has a satellite lab that enables physicians and medical staff to do immediate tastings in the rooms, for those life threatening cases and severely ill or injured patients (John C. Lincoln Network, 2013). John C. Lincoln Deer Valley’s emergency room (center) stays focused on individualized and compassionate care.
