Assisted living can offer a comfortable place to live in like an apartment. People in nursing homes do not usually have privacy and can sometimes share rooms with each other. In an assisted living arrangement, older people are considered as clients, while people in nursing homes are generally considered as patients.

2. Similarities: The main similarity of assisted living and nursing homes is that elder people are given care or “assisted” with their needs. They are placed in these housing arrangements because of their age or health. Doctors, nurses, other clinicians, and the housing staff supervises these older people no matter if they are in an assisted living or a nursing home. 2.
