Mental Health Policy Reflection Paper

If this paper is allowed to be written from a personal perspective I would start by stating that health care is so complex because there are so many middle men and so many complexities within the legal system. Policy analysts must consider policy problems using political and legal analysis. This reflective essay will explain how policy analyst must consider policy problems and why. Political analysis is a process of breaking up a community into a smaller units of people which will make up the important individuals within an environment. Policy analysts must judge who they need to use in order to accomplish a common goal. In doing so, policy analysts are able to create a strategy along with ways to further advance and push their goals forward. A legal analysis is can be applied anywhere across the board.

The complexity sets in on making determinations according to the law. There are so many things that exists within the law, which could be misunderstood, hence why there must be an interpreter of law. The laws within health care cover a wide range of many forms of discrimination along with favoritism. With any attempt to make changes within health care, policy analysts must consider the majority of needs that exists which will cut down on the greater rebuttal. There will always be someone who will want to oppose against any decision made, this is normal. Policy analyst must focus on the interests of the people. The greater interest of the people is what policy analysts need to focus on because it will create a better sense of security amongst the majority of everyone. The problem with the interest of the people is caused by the middle men.

For example, third party payers are frowned upon because of the raise in prices through out health care. All of the structures within health care create a circle that revolves into the next structure, thus causing it to become a needed asset within health care. Laws are set in place that support everyone across the board that has any dealing with the world of health care. The laws that are set, protect every one from the stakeholders within health care and all the way down to the consumers of health care. Policy analysts must consider policy problems using political and legal analysis simply because America runs a democracy. People have the right for freedom of speech. People have the right to know the who, what, when, where, and whys of health care. If a certain population feels that they have been discriminated against, they have the right to protest to gain the proper benefits.

The law is what protects people and is what gives equality to the best of it’s ability. Policies created should only be created to cause a change for the better within health care. They have been purposed for just that reason. Policies bring people of common interest together to accomplish a common goal. In conclusion, policy analysts must consider the law and the policies that exist within health care. They must do so because the American system is a democracy. Democracy allows the common people to have some sort of control of their government. Laws and policies help to protect and even act as a voice for some people. Overall, without laws and policies in place there would be less control over how the American health care system is run.
