A virus is a small infectious agent that replicates only inside the living cells of other organisms. A virus can affect all types of life forms. It can be a deadly disease that can spread over a wide range. A virus that has done so is the Ebola Virus. The virus first started in December of last year in West Africa. Within nine moths of the virus being around 2,473 people have been ill and 1,350 have died. This virus has been called The Biggest Epidemic, a hemorrhage causing disease.
The viruses name is Ebola hemorrhagic fever. It kills from 25 too 88 percent of everyone it infects. Starting from 2 to 21 days after exposure to the virus they can develop a fever, headaches, muscle pain, diarrhea, vomiting, and loss of appetite. When the disease starts to intensify it startes to cause the body to start bleeding internally. Although the virus started in West Africa it spread to other countries such as Liberia, Guinea, and Sierra Leone. There has been many tries to help prevent or control the virus. One vaccine was called the ZMapp.
The vaccine was only tested on a number of patients but all supplies of that compund are now gone. Another vaccine that was later introduced it comes from Canada’s National Microbiology Laboratory. The vaccine is based on reving up the body’s infection-fighting immune system so that it can fight the infection. An infection is a disease that can spread from one organism to another.
To conclude the Ebola virus is a virus that has been spread over a wide range of countries. It has taken the lives of many and still continues too. Its known as the biggest epidemic. There are tests going on to continue to find a cure or control the virus.
