The Pharmacy program at Long Island University is pre-eminent in my regard. I view the University as a school of distinction with a true devotion towards social ends. As a person who is focused on providing assistance, advice, all the while concentrating on quality and reliability of distribution; the pharmacy program fits my needs and ideals exceptionally well. My commitment towards improving health care access and service has been long-standing and is something I want to devote myself towards.
Especially in light of issues related to the substantial influence of managed care, my concern and increasing need to act on this concern makes me want to learn as much as possible so that I can provide an important integrating ingredient in order to enhance the way that people receive treatment. In many situations, pharmacists serve as intermediaries and explain critical processes and decisions as a third-party whom people often trust.
However, when people tend to have very trusting relationships with their pharmacists, pharmacists in turn have to be responsible about deserving the degree of trust they are so often afforded. Long Island University can firmly prepare me for a professional life of responsibility, obligation, and progressive optimism directed towards improvement. I want to believe in people and do no harm so I need the kind of solid and proactive education that Long Island University thoroughly provides.
Especially when physician consultations are too often too short and patients leave without as much information about their prescriptions as they would often like. Pharmacists are expected to fill new roles and perform previously rare assignments with increasing frequency. Not only are pharmacists critically responsible, they are also involved in cooperative engagements with every major party that is invested in health care as it exists today. I will and always will want to maintain my most honest commitment to recipients of health care.
For in the end, we are all recipients of health care. Just as I want my physician to diagnose me correctly everyone depends on good pharmacists to fill prescriptions with exact precision and also provide necessary advice when needed that is both appropriate and accurate. As the future dawns on America and pharmacists are expected to do more and more; I truly need the kind of cutting edge preparation that Long Island University most profoundly provides.
