As concern for the sources (where are they being taken from) of these organs is increasing, there have been allegations that almost every body part (the normal parts of human bodies) are being sold in black markets throughout the world. Doctors are seemingly to be the biggest culprits in the whole business since they travel abroad a lot and they can easily disguise a body organ with some other type of organ parts.
What is worse is that no one has since been held liable given that most, if not all, of these supposed “doctors” (perhaps many of them carry fake licenses or documents) have valid medical cards to show to the proper authorities. A worst case scenario appears to be like this: Many of the organ donors are actually victims of harvesting. These individuals have no knowledge that their various body parts were taken out from them in the guise of medical intervention done by supposed concerned physicians or surgeons.
People lose their body parts to doctors and medics without their awareness. Whatever happened to their consciences is best left to one’s imagination. For the recipients of these organs, the temptation to acquire organs by any means is very difficult to ignore. They often go after the trade at whatever expense so long as their survival can be secured. More often than not, people who are needy fall prey to this business and end up buying expensive organs.
It seems that no human being can even think of committing this kind of heinous act, but where money is involved, even the most highly educated group of people succumb and presumably they are those who perpetuate this illegal and dangerous trade ignoring its grim reality. In Germany, charges on the existence of a black market for organs of different types have run around and spreading. If someone dies in a certain German hospital and the family agrees to an autopsy, it’s as if they are pretty much saying to the doctors that “it is okay” to go ahead and take their loved one’s body parts.
The following details account much for the extent of organ harvesting: Bones are used in accident clinics. Major organs are sent to classrooms to be used in anatomy class. (See also Table 1. 0 below) The missing parts like the dead person’s eyes are replaced by glass eyes and then used for cornea transplants. Muscle membranes are taken from the thigh and used in reconstructive surgery. One of the “bestsellers” or the much in-demand body part is the membrane that surrounds the brain and spinal cord – the meninges which are used as medication in skin transplants.
