The Ebola Outbreak

Ebola fever is a dangerous disease that was discovered in 1976 and got its name after a river. This disease does not have a cure yet and recently an outbreak was reported in West Africa. A huge percent of the people who had been affected have already died; consequently, the World Health Organization has allowed the use of experimental drugs in order to try to find out how to save the people who suffer from this illness. Even if Ebola was discovered a lot of years ago, it does not have a cure yet.

In addition to this, we will not be able to know what the medicine is if we do not test them first. I quite agree with the fact that we need to test drugs, but do doctors really need to test them on human beings? Life is not a game, so we cannot run a risk. There are people with the virus that sign a waiver to try experimental drugs. They should be aware of the fact that there are a lot of consequences, which are called side effects that can make them feel worse. It is possible that they let doctors to use experimental drugs because they are afraid of death.

It is known that they are in danger, but that does not mean that they have nothing left to lose. From my point of view, this fever is one of the most dangerous because doctors do not know how to fight against it. They have to test a lot of different potential medicines; nonetheless, it may be really hard to find the right one. What I do think that the World Health Organization and doctors should do is to help ill people to cope and take care of them until a real medicine has been tested with infected animals.
