In 2011, China’s new papermaking capacity is 9. 2 million tons. In the same year, China’s paper and paperboard production reach 99. 3 million tons. Many Chinese inherit this skill and they can spread it to British Columbia.

In recent years, forest industry in British Columbia develop much better under the help of skilled workers. Mackinnon (1971) says that today 21 pulp and paper mills are in operation in British Columbia. The total British Columbia pulp capacity is currently 5. 4 million tons and the total paper capacity to 2. 1 million tons annually, which makes British Columbia a major supplier of newsprint and pulp to world market (p. 232). An expert named Glenn (2010, April) contends that British Columbia currently stands as the fourth largest producer of farmed fish in the world and aquaculture now represents British Columbia’s most significant agriculture export.

Besides British Columbia, many Asian countries such as China, Japan and Korea all have advanced B. C. 4 technology in aquaculture industry. According to “aquaculture in China and Asian” (2007, May), the Asian region produces 57,972,000 tonnes of aquaculture products including aquatic plant which account for 92% of all world aquaculture production. Skilled immigrants from these countries can bring new ideas or change thoughts and experiences with Canadian so that British Columbia could make a further development in aquaculture and achieve economy growth.

According to a research (2007, April), in 2005, the employment in fishery peaked at just under 5,000 people, but the number dropped to 1000 next year. The annual average employment level was only 2100 people (p. 34). Victoria has already had at least three Chinese medicine clinics which are operated by Chinese skilled immigrants. Many people in Victoria go to school learn Chinese Medicine and regard Chinese Medicine as their major after benefiting from Chinese Medicine.

Education Skilled immigrants sometimes have a positive influence in education. The prerequisite for economic development is education. By having the necessary and relevant educational background, immigrants have the knowledge to contribute to the economy of British Columbia. Skilled immigrants can not only provide language resources, but also professional knowledge. The number of skilled immigrants who prefer to teach their languages at school rises because more and more anglophones have enthusiasm in learning foreign languages.

According to “English-only percentage drops in B. C. as Chinese-only rises”( 1992 ), the fastest growing non-official languages were Chinese, Spanish and Punjabi, reflecting immigration from Hong Kong, Latin America, Pakistan and India. Besides teaching languages, skilled immigrants can also teach their academic knowledge and skills. It is an effective way for students to learn new creative ideas from immigrant reachers. New B.
