From the above, it is clear that discrimination is rife both in the nursing profession for males and in work of detectives for females. The reasons for discrimination of male nurses are partially historical like the opening of females’ only nursing schools in the United States of America. Similarly some of the reasons for discrimination against female detectives are historical like the confinement of women to the homes as men went out to do what was considered manly duty.
Remedies to both these forms of discriminations include the raising of role models for male nurses and female detectives, the male nurses and the female detectives themselves coming out and stumping their authority, and the government and other social and civil entities coming out in support of female detectives and male nurses. Employment to male nurses can also encourage more males to join the nursing profession and at the same time change the society’s perception of male nurses from negative to positive. Similarly, female detectives can be encouraged through the hiring of the few females in this area.
This will encourage more females to become detectives and make it normal to have women becoming detectives in our society.
