Through time, there are many significant development and changes that occur in the field of nursing. Some of these developments are the materials and equipment being utilized in every medical operation, new medical procedures, innovative research achievements and many others. When I was still a freshman nursing student, together with my classmates, we used traditional medical equipments but are not as accurate as the equipment we used nowadays. We know operates with advanced facilities to ensure an excellence learning environment.
Today our facilities that we use are completely equipped and functional amphitheatre-type laboratories. Comparing my experience between my freshman days to my present junior standing, I was able to think critically and applied scientific methods using data available, I was able to employ therapeutic communication in all fields and nursing settings, and I was successful to participate in many activities that contribute to lifelong personal and professional development.
Moreover, I now possess scientific and technical competence to practice safely in the discipline of nursing. But I was not satisfied with my knowledge and experience but moreover I have strived to be the best in our school to be inclined and knowledgeable enough necessary to be competent both in local and global nursing set up. Demonstrate growth in the area of communication Dealing with difficult patients in medical encounters needs a lot of communication skills.
But communication skills must be effective and efficient because every information being taken or given to other nurse are vital because it concern the medical condition of their patients. Another use of communication in a nursing practice is how to communicate and handle the patient’s condition. Before, I am not familiar on the different technical terms used in many nursing subjects but now I am more aware than before. I am able to use these technical terms when I am dealing with my nursing practical examinations.
Demonstrate growth in the area of critical thinking Critical thinking is very essential especially those professionals who are in the field of healthcare industry like nurses. Critical thinking is sometimes referred as a clinical reasoning or judgment. It is an essential competency that all nurses need to provide cost effective client care with out sacrificing the quality of the medical care. It is divided into three groups: knowledge, affective or emotional behavior and cognitive behavior.
Nurses should use all these behaviors and skills in order to provide an excellent client care. Because of the rising demands of nursing professionals in the healthcare industry, many medical institutions are considering on how their nursing students able to develop their critical thinking. Critical thinking will involve the problem solving and assessment. Nurses must be capable of applying their knowledge in the medical field.
