Lives of a Cell

The point of Lives of a Cell is to tell that people are embedded in nature. The authors purpose for writing this is to show how people are made and the things in them that proves they are a part of nature. The author feels that we are the delicate part of nature and that the earth is the strong part of nature and he tells that he sees the earth as most like a single cell. In the paper, he tells how mitochondria drive us and is not part of us but kind of like separate creatures.

He also shows how we are like the plants and other living things. Plants exist because of chloroplast like we live because of mitochondria and other living organisms inside of us. He also said that we live in a matrix of viruses and they go around from organism to organism, to plant, to insect, to mammal, to people, and back again transplanting DNA. He said that if that is true then in a way viruses could be looked at as something that got dropped along the way.

In society this relates because everybody likes to think he or she is invincible and above everything on earth. This writing explains why we are not above everything in the earth and that we are just a small piece of it. We are like the plants and other living things and the earth is the strong piece. It can show us that we might want to take care of it because it will be here longer then we will.
