Knows and recognizes deviation from normal vital signs and other parameters and report such to the surgeon/anesthesiologist. Identifies, prepares and sends specimen obtained during operation for histopathology and culture as ordered. Receives booking of schedule for operations. Maintains good interpersonal relationship within the unit/department. Observes and upholds policies and procedures as determined by the administrative body.
Performs other functions and responsibilities which may be assigned by the immediate superior. Recovery Room Plans and gives comprehensive nursing care to patients during the immediate post-operative period while they are recovering from the anesthesia. Observes, assess and constantly monitors patient’s condition as they recover from anesthesia. Makes and maintains accurate records of monitored parameters such as the vital signs, intake and output, level of consciousness and others. Coordinates with the surgical team regarding care of the patient. Provides psychological support to patients recovering from anesthesia.
Delivery Room/Nursery Room Assists the physician during assessment of the patient, deliveries and other procedures including procedures done on the newborn e. g. cannulation, umbilical catheter insertion, resuscitation, intubation. Gives after care to post-partum patients before they are transferred to the nursing unit. Accomplishes and keeps a records of mother and baby taking particular attention on the date and time delivery, sex and Apgar score of baby. Provides immediate care and proper identification of the newborn. Administers emergency baptism to newborns/fetus.
Identifies, prepares and sends specimen for histopathology, gram-staining, paps smear, and culture to the laboratory. Attends to newly admitted babies and make initial care plan. Observes, analyzes symptoms, changes in the condition of the patients and cooperates with other members.
