The lack or absence of adequate and quality healthcare services, programs, facilities, and medications – this is what primarily attracts me to enter the medical field, particularly pharmacy. Indeed the topic of healthcare has been making headlines recently. It has been debated that people in this country should have decent healthcare plans. For some, this is an easy thing to achieve. Yet for many, who cannot even buy food to feed their hungry mouths, how will this be realized?
With the high cost of medical facilities and medicines, it is understandable if an ordinary Joe prioritizes his grumbling stomach than his sickness or disease. This is the reality I have seen in various parts of the country. Contrary to the so-called green pasture and good life America has been known for, several people are living in poverty, without proper healthcare. For this awareness, I have aspired to one day be a part of the solution to the problem. Pharmacy is the field I have chosen as it encompasses various medical areas.
Hence, learning about these will enable me to become an effective, productive, and holistic healthcare practitioner in the future. 2. Choosing the right school for my educational goals is especially crucial to me. In today’s globally competitive environment, it is significant to have professionals who not only are intellectually gifted to solve the most pressing concerns of our time but are also morally and spiritually upright to uphold the highest level of healthcare in the country. This is one of the guarantees I got from Loma Linda University.
As an educational institution that focuses on educating students in a spiritual way, LLU will ensure me of an education that is excellent, student-centered, ethical, and holistic. Specifically, the School of Pharmacy will equip me with the needed tools significant in providing patient-centered care, population-based care, and safe handling and distribution of medications. Because of such advantage, I will be trained to have the highest technical skills to practice whole-person care with spiritual, physical, and intellectual considerations.
