Health Care for Everyone

Health care is on the minds of the American population because people do not know if he/she can afford coverage through the proposed plan. Costs seem to affect current American resources, so a health care savings fund is the choice for a new health care system. Assuming there are 309,415,069 citizens in the United States and every citizen paid $8. 67 a month for health care. This would produce $2,682,628,648. 23 (billion) per month, $34,191,543,778. 76 (billion) with added interest per year. This plan has no co-pay, no deductible, no pre-existing condition clause, and no coverage denial.

However, this new system requires people to eat and live healthier. Other funding would come from corporations. Funding would depend on the size of the corporation. For example, pharmaceutical companies would pay a small fee for each pill produced daily, and housing lenders would pay a small fee for every home financed. This plan would pay physicians and hospitals on a monthly basis through electronically transferred funds that go directly into the health care facilities’ financial institution. Not all Americans or physicians/hospitals will participate, but should consider participating.

This is health care for all citizens of the United States and not health insurance. The elderly, children, low-income families, and anyone else enrolled would benefit from this health care system. Corporations would also benefit from this new health care system. People who enroll in this system would only pay $8. 67 a month for coverage. This coverage would also help pay for prescription costs. This plan would also pay pharmacies through electronical payment methods. The new health care system would operate from one facility, under one economic group, and would not be under scrutiny of different organizations.

This will help control the system accurately because all the funds, files, and personal information are in one facility. The people who do not enroll in this new health care system are the disadvantaged as well as the people who eat unhealthy and do not exercise. This group of people not enrolled in the system will pay out-of-pocket for any medical services acquired. This expense would also include prescription drug costs. People who think $8. 67 a month for health care is expensive should think about how he/she will pay for medical services without the system.

The middle and upper class will also pay $8. 67 a month for health care. This plan is coverage for all citizens of the United States. Through this plan, fast food restaurants are at a disadvantage because this plan requires restaurants to change their menus to healthier menus. Focusing on the current economic situation of the United States, this new health care system would provide the funds for health care services without extending the national budget; therefore, solving the problem of finding funds to insure people.

Health care, through this new system, would fund itself. Although corporations would not pay any health care premiums for their employees through this new system, they would still pay for workman’s comp insurance. People will no longer use government funded insurance under this health care system, so this new system would free up funds used for Medicaid and Medicare. The elderly would receive care in his/her homes through home care services; therefore, eliminating long-term care.

As with any new system, problems occur when start-up begins because some people will think that everyone will not benefit from a new system. Other problems that could arise are: long-term health care facilities would go out of business, doctors and hospitals that do not participate in the system would lose money, and Medicare and Medicaid will not be available any more. With Medicare and Medicaid gone, the people who depend on Medicare and Medicaid will start paying for his/her own health care coverage; therefore, causing them to find employment.

This system could force some doctors, which will not participate in the new system, to enroll in the new system as well as the hospitals not participating. Another problem that could arise is delay in payment if computer systems go down, but until resolutions occur to these problems, the new system will continue to face problems. Clearly with all the “hoop-la” over health care, the new health care system proposed offers benefits, disadvantages, and problems; however, this system offers coverage for all Americans. All the American people need to do is enroll and pay the small monthly fee for coverage.
