What is lung Cancer?
Cancer is the name for a group of 100 diseases in which abnormal cells in a part of the body begin to grow out of control. Lung cancer occurs when this uncontrolled cell growth begins in one or both lungs – American Cancer Society.
Lung cancer does not have any symptoms until advance stages. For instance, symptoms for lung cancer are coughing, wheezing, chest pain and loss of appetite. This increases from age 40 to 70 years. In order to accurately diagnosis lung cancer a number of medical tests are required. Relapse rates are high and survival rates are very poor.
Treatments
The following are the treatments that are used to either destroy or reduce cancerous cells. * Chemotherapy is used for more advanced stages of this disease. * Radiation therapy is the use of high-energy radiation that shrinks tumors. As people age the risk of cancer increases, more than 60% of all cancers occur in adults 65 and older but that does not mean the middle age persons are not at risk. Cancer is a subject no one likes to discuss.
