Abstract This project is about the formulation of the healing cream or the COCO – CHAR – CREAM, particularly. Due to economic crisis we are facing today,we should think of some remedies to various ailments or diseases that we are suffering from. Remedies that we can afford at a very low cost and can avail everywhere. In this study, the researchers wanted to find answers to the questions of the possibility to formulate a low cost cream from the cococnut charcoal and coconut oil. Determined whether it is comparable with the other commercial cream in our leading drug store.
The mentioned ingredients were both beneficial, since they came from the “tree of life”, the coconut. Wood, coconut shells and bones of animals do not produce harmful chemical, such as methylcholentrene and benzopyrene in the process of burning. That’s why the researchers came to realize that these materials be used in formulating such cream. The formulated cream out of coconut charcoal and coconut oil can easily prepared and relieve diseases. Experts say that charcoal is universal remedy to many health problems people face today.
Charcoal’s major role in the healing process is merely to absorb toxins, germs, viruses, bacteria and wound secretions. It relieves pain and aches, absorbs acids produced by the stomach, relieves gouts and arthritis, destroys or stops the growth of bacteria, removes odors (a deodorant), relieves inflammations and others. Fear not in utilizing this cream because it has no side effects. It is safe and effective. CHAPTER I The Problem Is there a possibility to formulate charcoal cream and utilize it to relieve pain and remedies for various diseases? I. INTRODUCTION: A. Background of the Study.
Thinking of what to do as an investigatory project is not a simple one. There are certain things to be considered like the capacity and ability of a person to do the project, the benefits that can be gained by every person out of such project. In this regard, we decided to choose coconut charcoal out of coconut shells to make it into a cream and combined to coconut oil. According to study and words from some experts; charcoal is the universal remedy for many diseases of people facing nowadays, such as gouts, arthritis, pain and aches and many others. This project aims to develop a cream, the healing cream to remedy various diseases.
However, this new formulation is the best alternative for expensive cream today. And the researchers call this new cream medicine, COCO – CHAR – CREAM. B. Statement Of The Problem This study was conducted to formulate a healing cream out of coconut charcoal. One must consider the availability of the materials and the beneficial effects and the time to be consumed in formulating the cream. This project aims to answer the following questions: 1. Can this project relieve the pain, aches, gouts, arthtritis and other diseases? 2. Will this project help people suffering from various diseases? 3.
Will this be of help to these people/patients who could not buy an expensive cream? C. Objective This investigatory project aims to: 1. Formulate medicinal cream out of coconut charcoal and coconut oil. 2. Be of help for these people/patients who are suffering from various diseases. 3. Know other benefits of the charcoal. D. Significance Of The Study This study tries to encourage each and everyone to utilize, formulate and discover the wonders of charcoal and its benefits. E. Scope And Delimitation Of The Study The research is limited only in formulating a new medicine cream and availability of materials in the community.
F. Definition Of Terms Charcoal – An amorphous, porous form of carbon made by destructive distillation of almost any carbonaceous material such as wood, coconut shells, animal bones and corn cobs. Absorb – To take up, hold on or spread out on the surface of the molecules. To take in as it by swallowing or sucking, to absorb water like a sponge. Benzopyrene – A harmful chemical found in coal tar, a crystalline yellow solid. It is a product of complete combustion. Methylcholanthrene – A harmful chemical produce by burning organic compounds at very high temperatures.
It is a yellow solid with a melting point around 180 degree celcius. Porous – Full of force; permeable. CHAPTER II Review Of Related Literature The use of charcoal is a simple remedy for different health problems is ancient way of treating many common diseases that afflict humankind dates back to the time of Hippocrates who lived from 460 to 370 B. C,. , as well as ancient Egyptian doctors, suggested the use of charcoal for medicinal purpose. The used of charcoal is a product of a long years of scientific studies. Many problems, from poisoning to dizziness, we treated with it.
Charcoal defined as an amorphous, porus form of carbon made by the destructive distillation of almost any carbonaceous materials such as wood, coconut, shells, animals bone, and corn cobs. In 1793, a German Russian Pharmacist, Tobias Louitz discover the decolonizing and deodorizing properties of charcoal. He reported to the Russian navy that he can purify water with charcoal in 1795. Charcoal is used as a domestic fuel for both healing and cooking. Its medicinal properties are given strong boost by the United States Dispensatory ( a book that tell how to prepare and use medicine).
Its 1825 Edition says that produced charcoal is an antiseptic and adsorbent. The most important work of charcoal powder in the treatment of diseases is to adsorb chemical substances that are harmful to the body, like germs, virus, toxins, wound secretion, and other products of infections. Charcoal does not absorb but it adsorbs substances. It works like a magnet. It collect foreign substances around its self, bonding them all together and dispose of them through the excretory system.
CHAPTER III METHODOLOGY A. Material Used: Charcoal from coconut shell Coconut oil B. Equipment Needed: Coffee grinder or mortar and pestle.
Fine coffee strainer C. Procedures: HOW TO PREPARE CHARCOAL POWDER Strain the charcoal powder using fine coffe strainer. Pulverize the charcoal by Grinding or pounding. Sterilize the charcoal powder in an oven or in a dry covered kettle for fryingpan for 15 to 20 minutes Let it cool and store in a dry clean covered glass or container. Place the charcoal powder in a mixing bowl. Mixture should not be too dry or too wet. Stir it slowly with a spoon or ladle to make it a charcoal cream Pour in coconut oil gradually. HOW TO APPLY COCO- CHAR- CREAM Cover it with a thin cellophane or plastic to keep to the heat and moisture effect.
Apply the cream at the center of the area to be treated. Bind tightly with a bandage or a strip of cloth. Cover it with a clean dry cloth. must be one or two inches wider than the area with cream so that heat cannot escape. Dress the patient in the morning. Leave it over night or do it three times a day Repeat the treatment until the condition is placed under control or healed. CHAPTER Iv PRESENTATION, INTERPRETATION, AND ANALYSIS OF DATA After the combination of the charcoal powder and coconut oil, the finished product was tried by the following signatories to prove the effectiveness of the medicated cream.
