Serious and Growing Problem

The Human Immunodeficiency Virus, more publicly know as HIV/AIDS is a huge and growing problem in the United States, and all over the world. Over 77,000,000 people have been infected with HIV worldwide, and over 30,000,000 people have died due to this disease. AIDS is brought on to the host by being infected with the HIV virus and having a low T-Cell count. When untreated, AIDS has an 85% fatality rate. This is one of the most important reasons why everyone should get tested for the HIV virus, and something should be done to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS.

In the Ukraine and areas in Sweden, drug use is a huge problem, especially use of drugs like heroin which are taken by injection through needles. In poor areas such as these, and with a growing drug use problem, it is not out of the ordinary for people to reuse needles that have already been used by other users. Another growing problem in areas such as these is the rapid spreading of HIV/AIDS, which is mostly attributed to the sharing of needles for injecting drugs.

There is no real way to stop both of these major problems in these countries, but one of them is killing more people than any other disease, HIV/AIDS. If the sharing of needles could stop, and people could have their own clean needles, the spreading of the HIV virus would become much less of a problem. To prevent the use of already used needles in countries where drug use is a problem, a program could be created that would help give out clean needles to who ever needed them.

This would dramatically slow down the spreading of HIV/AIDS, and help drug users to keep safe. Other negative effects of this chronic drug use and reuse of needles could be getting other infections, and spreading combinations of HIV/AIDS and other severe infections, basically writing a death sentence for the other users who were unlucky enough to use already used needles. This whole situation could be prevented if this program was created. In this program, in stage 1, clinics would be set up world wide where citizens could go get tested for HIV/AIDS for free anytime.

This information would be used along with survey information to determine areas where the greatest percentage of infected drug users was. Stage 2 of this program would be to set up clinics in those areas where drug users would be able to go and receive a set of free needles as long as they agreed to be tested for HIV/AIDS. If users tested positive for the virus, they would be given the option to receive free medication to help them live positive.

If they tested negative for HIV/AIDS, then they would be provided with the clean needles they needed along with condoms to help prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS even further. This program would receive funding from donations from celebrities and government organizations, and would be set up by a board of HIV/AIDS activists and carried on by supporters of research for the disease. HIV/AIDS is a growing problem in the modern world, especially in areas of the world where drug use is a huge problem.

Needles that are used by those infected with HIV/AIDS are reused by other drug users, who in turn contract the deadly disease and spread it to other drug users. This is a growing problem which should be addressed by a program that would give out free clean needles, and test users for the virus. This program would help to stop the spread of HIV/AIDS and hopefully help stop the epidemic. “Like the others before me, I would like to turn my own problem into something good that will reach out to all my homeboys and their kin. Because I want to save their asses before it’s too late. ” – Eazy E.
